Lighting & Color

Choosing the right colours is the single most important decision you will make when designing any room scheme, and getting it wrong can be a costly mistake. There are thousands of different colours to choose from, so choosing the right ones that will combine well and look stunning in your home can seem a daunting task. Melomood can help you ensure you get it right the first time. What Kind of Lighting Does Each Space Need? There are two rules of thumb: You should have a mix of light sources at different levels to create a flattering ambience, and you need appropriate task lighting for whatever you do in that space (reading, sautéing, getting dressed). Melomood has over 15 years of experience in lighting and has access to the world's most prestigious lighting designers.

Project management

Project management is at the core of Melomood's services. In these busy times, it is nearly impossible to correctly oversee a design project, whilst managing the demands of your career and family. Defining the concept, goals, approach and reason for a given project is crucial to its success. Before launch, the project manager communicates these definitions to clients and obtains their agreement and support. All resources, risks and benefits are identified, and contingency and communication plans are outlined. Project managers monitor the project at each stage, analyzing progress and communicating to the client and others involved, including sub-contractors. As goals change or unexpected issues arise, the plan is amended to reflect scheduling, budget and other modifications.

My Story

Melomood Design was established in 2001, by Interior and Architectural Designer Mélanie Deniau-Young. Melomood incorporates a philosophy of developing spaces to reflect the personality and viewpoint of each client or business. This approach of pairing spaces allows the final design to reveal a deeper association with its owner and the feeling it exudes. Mélanie recently relocated from York, England to Salina, where she ran her own design company for nearly 20 years. Melanie's design influences stem from all over the world.
